VELAYUDHAM SLATED FOR DIWALI RELEASE

2011 Diwali (October 26) is exactly two months away, but Kollywood big stars and producers are trying to lock the date.

It is going to be a cracker of a Diwali as some of the biggest films have been lined up for the festival of lights.

Diwali after Pongal is the second biggest festival in Tamil Nadu. There is always a 10 % additional opening for a biggie during the festival season.

And for any star worth his box-office salt, a Diwali release is prestigious.

Ilayathalapathy Vijay will announce officially in Madurai at the audio launch of his M Raja directed Velayudham on Sunday (Aug 28) that the film will be a Diwali treat for his fans!

Producer Udhayanidhi Stalin of Red Giants has announced through Twitter that his eagerly awaited Suriya starrer 7Aum Arivu directed by AR Murgadoss will hit the screens worldwide on Diwali day.

STR has also announced that his Dharani directed Dabangg remake Osthi is a “confirmed Diwali 2011 release”, and post-production work has started on the film in Chennai.

Ace director Selvaraghavan through Twitter had conducted poll among his followers, to select a date for the release of his Dhanush starrer Mayakkam Enna. Selva now says the film is confirmed for Diwali.

As per trade sources Vishal’s Prabhu Deva directed Vedi is also looking for a Diwali day release.

Concludes top distributor and exhibitor Tiruppur Subramaniyam : “ It is not possible to release five big hero films for Diwali. Where are the theatres to screen them? Today a big film releases in 350 plus
screens during festival season in Tamil Nadu, to get an opening. I would say only two biggies can be accommodated for Diwali in a state where only 700 screens are good for releasing new films.”

Some Info About Yohan

Everything Vijay does in life makes headlines. So when word gets out that he is going to team up with Gautham Menon, the excitement is palpable. The latest is that script work is going on in earnest for this project.

Vijay is excited about his character and is getting personally involved at this level itself! His character starts off as an undercover secret agent and goes on to become one of the most powerful men in New York city. His rise to power forms the crux of the plot. Vijay is brimming over with ideas and suggestions for the plot and the team is delighted to see his enthusiasm.

The basic plot of 'Yohan Adhyayam Ondru', a film which will bring together Vijay and Gautham VasudevMenon for the first time, is here.
"The film is about a common man who hails from Tuticorin and establishes his network around the world. Vijay plays a much wanted person who is in the radar of
police departments of almost all countries," sources say.

An action thriller, the script will be totally new to Tamil cinema, they say and add: "Yohan Adhyayam Ondru will be an edge-of-the-seat entertainer and it will go on floors bythe beginning of next year, that is, 2012."

To be produced by Photon Kathaas Productions, a company run by Gautham himself, the movie will have music by A R Rahman, cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa. "Gautham will now start a film with Jiiva and will begin Yohan after its release,"

Velayudham introduction song to be performed live in audio launch at Madurai

After playing a bodyguard’s role in latest film ‘Kaavalan’, which was markedly ‘different’ from the roles he takes on usually, Vijay is back to what he knows best: to entertain the audience to the hilt. ‘Velayudham’, his upcoming film which has Genelia and Hansika playing the female leads opposite him, promises to be a wholesome entertainer targeting the actor’s fans at all levels.

The film has five songs out of which four of them have been shot at an expense of Rs.8 crores which would mean that each of these four songs have cost the producer a cool Rs.2 crores! The customary ‘introduction’ song of Vijay has been filmed at the scenic Thirumoorthimalai. Noted choreographer Ashok Raj, who had earlier worked with Vijay in films like ‘Sivakasi’ and ‘Pokkiri’, has choreographed this song.

Set in a folk-style dancing, the opening song includes several dance forms that are still prevailing in the countryside. Besides Vijay, as many as 200 local dancers and 150 foreigners have danced for this song, it is learnt. Journalist-turned-lyricist Annamalai, who had penned lyrics in Vijay’s ‘Vettaikkaran’, has written 3 songs for ‘Velayudham’.

The opening song would be performed live by foreign artistes as well as locals when the audio-launch of the film would be held in Madurai on 28th August. Readers might recall that Vijay had heaped praise on the song ‘En Rathathin Rathamae…’ by saying that in all his films, he has never lip-synched for a more enjoyable song. Though the song is sung by Vijay for his sister in the film, the song might go on to become his ‘signature song’ in future.

As his ‘Kaavalan’ grossed more in Madurai district more than it did in other districts, Vijay is hosting the audio-launch at Madurai, it is informed by a source close to the actor!

Latest we hear is about the theme of the film. The story runs on the backdrop of Mumbai, where Vijay will be tracing his life beyond that in the Western Metropolis. Most of the shoot is expected to take place in Mumbai. The director is tight-lipped about the project.

The movie is likely to move on floors on the eve of Diwali. Murugadoss is currently busy finalizing the title and other lead cats for the film.

VIJAY'S GIFT TO WHOLE VELAYUDHAM CREW

Impressed with the outcome of his Velayudham, Vijay gifted his technicians

gold chains

It’s no news that Velayudham is one of the most important films in Vijay’s

career. He is going the extra mile to make sure that the film comes out well

and satisfies his fans’ expectations. So, it’s no surprise that the actor gifted all

his chief technicians gold chains when he saw the climax of the film recently.

A source reveals, “Recently, Vijay was shooting a dance number in a set

erected at a mill in the city. During the break hours, director Raja screened the

climax of the film for his team. Vijay, who had earlier seen the film in bits and

portions, was moved when he saw the way the climax had shaped up.

He was close to tears and fought hard to control his emotions. He was moved

by the way Raja and cameraman Priyan had shot the scenes. In a bid to

express his gratitude, he immediately arranged for gold chains, each worth

one sovereign, to be bought. He personally gifted it to his chief technicians.”

Raja explains, “Vijay said this was one of the best climax scenes that he has

ever shot for. He told me that the film has come out way better than what he

expected and it would be visible when the audience sees it. Earlier, he had

called my father (editor Mohan) to tell him how much he loved the film when I

had screened a portion of it. I was waiting for Vijay to tell me his views

directly, but it was really an honour to hear it from my dad.”

VIJAY-PRIYANKA CHOPRA GOING TO PAIR ONCE AGAIN

Buzz in Kollywood is that Bollywood beauty Priyanka Chopra is in the race to

star in Vijay and AR Murugadoss untitled film.

Apart from Priyanka Chopra, other leading Bollywood actresses Deepika

Padukone and Sonam Kapoor too are in the list for the film. It can be noted

here that this would be the second film for Priyanka Chopra opposite Vijay as

they both have come in Thamizhan in the year 2002.

Their on screen chemistry has worked well and by considering this

Murugadoss is in plans to bring the duo together yet again. The filmmakers

are soon going to get in touch with the actress and if everything goes well

Priyanka will be paring Vijay for the second time.

Murugadoss has signed Santhosh Sivan and Harris Jayaraj for

cinematography and music respectively.

The movie is likely to move on floors on the eve of Diwali. Murugadoss is

currently busy finalizing the title and other lead cats for the film.

Aascar Ravichandran and S.A Chandrasekar will be producing the film on

first copy basis and Fox Star Studios will release the film all over the world.

VIJAY AND DHANUSH ALL PRAISES ABOUT MANKATHA TEASER

In Kollywood, very often we don’t see many actors complimenting each other and it’s a rare case. But for the first time, we have the A-league actors coming up with their praises not for a film, but for the teasers. Yes, actors Vijay and Dhanush couldn’t resist their excitements.

Vijay had rang up Premji Amaran and surprised him saying, “Ha Ha Ha Mankatha Da’, which happens to be the punch line of Premji in the trailer. Apparently, Dhanush tweeted saying, “Just saw Mankatha trailer ... Thala therikka vida poraaru!! All d best Ajith sir, Trisha, Venkat Prabhu, Yuvan and Dhaya sir.”

It looks like Ajith Kumar’s 50th film ‘Mankatha’ has huge fans following Thala now.

Jaya Tv Takes Velayutham Rights For a High Rate Around 5 Crore...

Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay hogged the limelight thanks to producer Aascar Ravichandran's timely release of Velayudham promos and teasers on Jaya TV on the recent state election results day, even as Amma was heading for a landslide victory.

That was probably an indication that the satellite rights of Velayudham, the most anticipated film of the year, would be grabbed by Jaya TV.
Grapevine has it that since the movie was made on a whopping budget of more than `40 crore, the TV rights were sold for a high price of a little above `4 crore.

Vijay has two hot ladies -Hansika, who plays a village girl Vaidehi and Genelia, whose character is a journalist, for company in the film, directed by Jayam Raja. The movie is complete, except for a few songs which will be shot abroad.

According to the production sources, the audio launch has been planned for August 28 at Madurai at a mammoth function where the fans of the Kaavalan star from all over Tamil Nadu are expected to participate.

In a way, it will serve as a dual purpose of launch as well as a prelude to Vijay's political ambition.

Shankar ropes in Andrea jeremiah for Nanban

Filmmaker Shankar is always known for choosing best

voices for his female lead roles. In

fact, most of his films have had heroines from Mumbai or

North India. Precisely, he has

been taking scrutinizing efforts over getting the right

voices for them. Unlike others,

Shankar makes sure that he finds the actresses with

good command over Tamil to dub for

the films.

It is worth mentioning that actress Kaniga dubbed for

Shriya Charan in Superstar

Rajnikanth’s ‘Sivaji – The Boss’. Now it’s Andrea

Jeremiah, who’ll be dubbing for Ileana D’

Cruz in ‘Nanban’.

VIJAY - THE MOST WANTED HERO NOWADAYS!!!

Now the entire Tamil film industry is speaking about Vijay's forthcoming projects...yes there are reason for this expectations. When directors like Ameer and Gautham Menon approached Vijay for Paruthiveeran and Khakka Khakka, Vijay politely refused it because he did not want to lose his mass image, but now the actor is having promising projects in his hands- movie with Shankar, Murugadoss, Gautham Menon, Mani Ratnam in  a row will certainly raise expectations from all the corners of the industry. If Aaranya Kaandam kind of projects is done by big heroes then our industry will reach the Hollywood standards. Now all the heroes including Vijay, Ajith, and Simbu  etc came to know that directors and the script is the basic key for a film's success and definitely not the star power. So this particular change is a refreshing flavor in Tamil cinema. If this continues Tamil cinema will reach international standards.

Why Vijay is needed by all these top directors? The reasons are as follows:

1. Vijay's film can easily collect around 30-40 crores even if it is an average film.

2. If director like Mani Ratnam or Shankar or any other top director joined with Vijay, definitely the market of the director plus Vijay's market will definitely collect 60 +crores, which is a great collection to Tamil industry, if the script is great  then it can make more money!!

3.Now all the Tamil directors want to take high budget films for that they want to join big heroes like Vijay, Ajith etc (this is the main point)

4.Moreover current political situation is in favor with Vijay.

VELAYUDHAM AUDIO RELEASE AROUND AUGUST 15

Expectations on this Vijay starrer are sky-high, and the many reasons for this need not even be explained upon. Fans are eagerly awaiting the audio release date of this film but no official announcement has been made yet, although it has been confirmed that this would be an August release.

Meanwhile, the director's brother and actor Jayam Ravi, has expressed to Ilayathalapathy fans that 'Velayudham' will see an audio launch around August 15!

"Got this out of the lions mouth, director Raja says Velayudham audio launch will be around August 15, enjoy Thalapathy fans. The wait will be worth it", says an excited Jayam Ravi who will be shortly traveling to Goa for the shoot on 'Aadhi Bhagavan'.

'Velayudham' is Vijay's superhero project where he romances Hansika Motwani. Genelia D' Souza plays a television reporter and the tunes are composed by Vijay Antony.

VIJAY'S ROLE IN YOHAN

There is a lot of speculation regarding Vijay's role in Gautham Menon's film. Both the hero and the director have been playing things very close to the chest and are unwilling to reveal juicy details though official word on the project is expected soon if only to put a rest to the rumors.

Sources close to the project reveal that in this film, Vijay will play a law enforcement official or a sexy secret agent like James Bond. It is going to be a stylish action flick like Gautham Menon's Kaakha Kaakha and Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu. Vijay is very pleased with the script, we hear and is very enthusiastic about his role.

JAYAM RAJA'S LATEST TALK ABOUT VELAYUDHAM

Director M Raja has received accolades from Vijay for shaping up 'Velayudham' as a racy entertainer. "The shooting is over, but for a song. We will shoot it soon. And post-production work is going on simultaneously", the director said.

On the appreciation from Vijay, he said, "Ilayathalapathy recently watched some scenes from the film and left the theatre without giving any feedback. I was wondering whether he liked them or not".

"After some time, I got a call from my father (Editor Mohan), who said that Vijay telephoned him and said that he was thoroughly impressed with my work in Velayudham. Vijay also told my dad that the film would sure become a super hit", Raja further said.

The director added: "I was so touched by this gesture of Vijay. He is always down to earth and would appreciate good work. He has proved this once again. Velayudham will be my gift to the fans of Vijay"

FEW INFO ABT VELAYUDHAM SONGS

The Velayudham songs will burst upon eager listeners this month. Music director Vijay Antony, whose mega-hit numbers in Vijay's Vettaikaran gave a flip to the actor's career, is back with more potential chartbusters.

Speaking for the first time on the audio of Vijay's much-awaited film Velayudham, he reveals, “Sonna Puriyathu is Vijay's introduction song in the film and it's a peppy dance number. Maayam Seithayo is another catchy melody in the film.“

The composer's trademark are his own brand of unusua words which he inserts into his songs, and these have added to his popularity.

In Velayudham too he has come up with a new word, chillax in one of his songs. He says, “The chillax song is a Carnatic-based kuthu number. I tried it differently this time.
The different-sounding words that I add bring an extra rhythm to each song and it becomes sensational. Chillax will definitely be a rocking number.“

And Vijay's reaction to all his songs? He replies: “He says they are superb!“
