NANBAN-VIJAY COUNTDOWN STARTS

This time, it’s no more a long term project from Shankar as the producers of Gemini Film Circuit have insisted to wrap up the project on scheduled time. The first schedule was held at Ooty for a shorter while following which the actors in the movie got busy with their other projects. Of course, Vijay had to complete few portions of ‘Velayudham’ while Jeeva went to Mumbai for ‘Vandhan Vendran’.

Now the entire team is getting back together at Dehradun as Jeeva tweeted saying, “will be joinin Director Shankar, Ilayathalapathy, shreekanth, Illena n Sathyaraj sir etc phewwwww gotta travel so much for some big action.”

Meanwhile Shankar and Harris Jayaraj are back from London completing the music composition for remaining songs. 

Vijay's action packed sequences for Velayudham

Ilayathalapathy Vijay is presently spinning around in order to maintain his film commitments and political image apparently. The actor after completing the Nagapattinam rally has returned to the sets of Velayudham in Chennai.

Director Raja is canning come thrilling stunt sequences in the Binny Mills with huge sets and group of stuntmen. Sources reveal that, over 200 people are involved in the stunt scene. Velayudham is Vijay's first superhero subject in which he share the screen space with Genelia and Hansika Motwani.

Velayudham team is making all possible efforts to complete the movie in the schedule time as the movie has been planned for release on Vijay's birthday. After Velayudham, Vijay will completely move towards Shankar's 'Nanban'.

VIJAY-PROVED HE IS A KING OF BOX-OFFICE WORLDWIDE

First of all congrats to Ilayathalapathy Vijay and director Siddique for giving us all a marvelous love story (Kavalan). Even 5 weeks after release of the film, it is said to have more than 70% occupancy in theatres. No doubt the next few years are going to be the peak in Ilayathalapathy`s career with excellent top directors in his pocket. But what was the reason for his consecutive flops in the past, did these films really go bad in collections? Let us have an outlook. Ilayathalapathy Vijay was constantly criticized for his films from ATM till SURA. The fact to be accepted that these five releases


(ATM,KURUVI,VILLU,VETTAIKARAN,SURA) had few irrelevant or over exacerbate scenes which led to the negative feedbacks from the audience. In discussion with each film,

ATM: 
Azhagiya Tamizh Magan , one of the Vijay`s films with a strong story lineup. Of course this film was a flop. On thinking where it went wrong, the entire fault goes upon the director. ATM was a much expected Vijay movie particularly for Vijay`s dual role. Over expectations of seeing two Vijay sharing the screen is what made the movie to travel in the wrong side. Climax another big draw-back for the film. Even with the excellent music from the Oscar winner the film was declared a flop because of poor direction.

Kuruvi:
It was again a much awaited movie because of the Gilli crew. One or two over exaggerated scenes applied strong brakes to the movie to reach the box office. Even block buster movie Gilli had one such scene in which Vijay jumps from terrace to terrace. But a strong screen play of Gilli made those scenes necessary. But that was not the case with Kuruvi , a scene where Vijay jumps from the terrace to catch a fast moving train was something which even Vijay fans did not accept. Overall excluding certain scenes the movie could have been made better. 



Key comment: Few unwanted exaggerated scenes.

Villu:
The film as whole had many drawbacks but as usual Vijay`s performance was admirable and impressive. The reason why Vijay accepted this movie is a big question mark.

Key comment: No storyline up.

Vettaikaran:
“This film broke the collection record of Ayan for Sun pictures for that year”, this was quoted by Sun pictures officially. This film was declared as a flop even after a massive collection record by the same sun pictures later. This is where political plays on Vijay started. Drawback of the movie was its stunts and Telugu essence in the movie. Overall the movie was above average and a 100% entertainer.

Key comment: 100% entertainer and WAS NOT A FLOP, AN ABOVE AVERAGE MOVIE.

Sura:
Worth to be declared a flop. Dance choreographers are the only people who used Vijay`s talent for Sura. Rest of the crew members sailed on Vijay`s star power which includes the director (Captain of the ship).

Key comment: Vijay should stop giving chances for such directors.








At last, Vijay crossed several hurdles and finally made his return with KAVALAN. Even though these five films were declared flop, they did not fail in returning the investment. Every single film managed to save its producers, distributors and theatre owners. The reason, it is a Ilayathalapathy`s movie.

நாகையில் கடும் மழை: இருந்தும் விஜய் ரசிகர்கள் குவிவு!

அறிவித்தபடி 4 மணிக்குத் துவங்கியிருக்க வேண்டும் இந்த ஆர்ப்பாட்டம். ஆனால் மழை - காற்று காரணமாக தாமதம் ஆகி வருகிறது. மழைக்கு ஒதுங்க இடமில்லாமலும், அதே நேரம் விஜய்யைப் பார்க்கும் ஆவலை கட்டுப்படுத்தவும் முடியாமல் சிதறி ஓடிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள் அவரது ரசிகர்கள். சரியாக 8 மணிக்குப் பேசுவார் விஜய் என்று அறிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. அதற்குள் மழை அடங்கி, காற்றும் நின்றுவிட்டால் போதும் என்று வருண பகவானை வேண்டி வருகிறார்கள் விஜய் ரசிகர்கள்!

2010-ல் 150 தமிழ்ப் படங்கள் வந்தன. அவற்றில் 90 சதவீதம் தோல்விப் படங்கள்… ஜெயித்தவையோ குறிப்பிட்ட மூன்று நிறுவனங்கள் தயாரித்த படங்கள் மட்டுமே!

2011-லாவது இந்த நிலை மாறுமா என்று தயாரிப்பாளர்களும் விநியோகஸ்தர்களும் ஆவலுடன் காத்திருக்கின்றனர். ஆனால் ஆரம்பமே அவர்களுக்கு பெரும் தடுமாற்றமாக உள்ளது. புத்தாண்டு தொடங்கி, கடந்த வெள்ளிக்கிழமை வரை மொத்தம் 16 படங்கள் திரைக்கு வந்துள்ளன. அடுத்து வரும் பிப்ரவரி 18-ம் தேதி வெள்ளிக்கிழமை மட்டும் நடுநிசி நாய்கள், ஆடுபுலி, காதலர் குடியிருப்பு மற்றும் மார்கழி 16 ஆகிய படங்கள் திரைக்கு வருகின்றன. இவற்றையும் சேர்த்தால் ஒன்றரை மாதங்களில் 20 படங்கள் கணக்கு வருகிறது.

இவற்றில் இதுவரை வெளியான 16 படங்களின் பாக்ஸ் ஆபீஸ் முடிவு என்று பார்த்தால், பெரும் ஏமாற்றமே மிஞ்சுகிறது.

வெற்றிப் படங்கள் என்று பார்த்தால் காவலன் மட்டுமே மிஞ்சுகிறது. யுத்தம் செய், பயணம் ஆகிய படங்கள் முதலுக்கு மோசமில்லை என்ற ரகம்தான். மீதிப் படங்கள் அனைத்துமே பப்படமாகியுள்ளன.  பெரிய நிறுவனங்களின் படமும் இந்த வருடம் குத்து வாங்க ஆரம்பித்திருக்கிறது. சன்டீவியின் ஆடுகளம் தவிர மற்ற நிறுவனங்களுகுகு தோல்விப்படங்களாகவே வருகிறது.

இப்போது வெளியாகவிருக்கும் நான்கு படங்களிலும் கவுதம் மேனனின் நடுநிசி நாய்கள் மட்டுமே ஓரளவு எதிர்ப்பார்ப்பைக் கிளப்பியுள்ளது. அது கூட கவுதம் மேனன் திட்டமிட்டு செய்துவரும் விளம்பரங்களால். அது எந்த ஆங்கிலப்படத்தின் காப்பி என்பது படம் வந்த பிறகு வெளிச்சமாகிவிடும். அப்போது இந்த எதிர்ப்பார்ப்பும் இருக்குமா என்பது சந்தேகமே.

What Vijay sources say about Mani Ratnam's project?

Mani Ratnam has still not held any discussions with Vijay pertaining to the next film that he is to direct, reports sources close to the actor.

All that the ace director did was to have asked Vijay’s time for a discussion and the actor has agreed to it. The meeting has not yet taken place but will happen very soon.

Ever since news made it that Mani Rathnam is to direct a period flick with Vijay, Vikram and Vishal, there have been rumors that he is working on bringing the classic novel Ponniyin Selvan on screen and Vijay is to play the Vanthiyathevan role in it.

But sources close to the Ilayathalapathy state that since the discussion is yet to happen nothing can be disclosed now.

Vijay Becomes Dupe for Raghava Lawrence

Director Shankar is finding best actors for his Tamil and Telugu remake of ‘3 Idiots’ titled ‘Nanban’. With Vijay, Srikanth and Jeeva playing lead roles, the addition of SJ Suryah has made the project more sensational as his characterization will add more to the humor quotients in this movie. Now there’s another special attraction to the film as Shankar has signed Raghava Lawrence for a cameo role. Initially, it was Prasanna supposed to perform the character, but wasn’t able to sign due to his prior commitments with other projects.

Guess what’s the role Raghava has got to play in ‘Nanban’? Vijay joins the engineering college with a wrong identity of Raghava Lawrence due to some situational problems. When Jeeva and Srikanth go in search of their friend, the mystery is unraveled leading them to farthest ends of India to find their friend, who changed their lives.

The role was performed by Javed Jaffrey in ‘3 Idiots’ and his scenes are the major twists in the tale laced with hilarious moments.

தூக்கத்தில் நடப்பேன்…

சைக்கோ கொலையாளியிடம் மாட்டி அவனிடம் இருந்து தப்பிக்க போராட்டம் நடத்தும் ஒரு கல்லூரி மாணவியின் கதை இது. படம் பிரமாதமாக வந்துள்ளது. நிஜவாழ்வில் திகில் சம்பவங்களை நான் சந்தித்தது இல்லை.

எனக்கு ஒரு வித்தியாசமான வழக்கம் உள்ளது. அது, தூக்கத்தில் நடப்பது. ஆனால் யாருக்கும் என்னால் தொந்தரவு ஏற்பட்டதில்லை. ரஜினியின் ரசிகை நான். அவருடன் ஜோடியாக ஒருபடத்திலாவது நடிக்க ஆசை. விஜய்யும் எனக்குப் பிடித்த நடிகர்தான். அவருடனும் நடிக்க ஆசை.

காதல் அனுபவம்…

காதலிக்காத அல்லது காதலில் விழாத இளம் பெண்கள் யார்தான் இருக்க முடியும். அந்த வகையில், எனக்கும் காதல் அனுபவம் உண்டு. கல்லூரி வாழ்க்கையில் காதலித்துள்ளேன். ஆனால் பயம், வெட்கம் காரணமாக காதலை சொல்லவில்லை. அது நிறைவேறாமலே போய்விட்டது.

இனி புதிதாக காதலிக்க வேண்டும். எனக்கென்று ஒருவர் நிச்சயம் இருப்பார். இப்போது எனக்கு யாருடனும் காதல் இல்லை. அதனால் காதலர் தினத்தில் படப்பிடிப்பில் இருப்பேன்.

என்னிடம் எனக்குப் பிடித்த விஷயம், என் கண்கள். அதேபோல உலகத்திலேயே எனக்குப் பிடித்த ரசிகர்கள் தமிழ் ரசிகர்கள்தான். ரசனையில் நம்பர் ஒன். அதனால்தான் எனக்கு தமிழ் ரசிகர்களை எனக்கு ரொம்பப் பிடித்துப் போய்விட்டது. தமிழ் படங்களில் தொடர்ந்து நடிக்க ஆர்வமாய் இருக்கிறேன்..” என்றார்

நண்பன் படத்தில் லாரன்ஸ் கெஸ்ட் ரோல்!!!!!

ஆமிர்கான், மாதவன், சர்மான் ஜோஷி, கரீனா கபூர் நடித்து இந்தியில் ஹிட்டான படம், ‘3 இடியட்ஸ்’. இந்தப் படத்தை ஜெமினி பிலிம் சர்க்யூட் நிறுவனம் தமிழில் 'நண்பன்' என்ற பெயரில் ரீமேக் ஆகிறது. ஷங்கர் இயக்கும் இந்த படத்தில் ஆமிர்கான் வேடத்தில் விஜய் நடிக்கிறார்.

Genelia Dubs In Tamil Firstly for Vijay’s Velayudham

Vijay-starrer Velayudham will be Genelia’s first film in which she will dub using her own voice. This north Indian actress, who has starred in many Tamil films earlier, has never lent her voice till now. However, Genelia feels that she has gained enough experience and is confident that her voice and accent will be accepted by the Tamil audience now.


Velayudham also has Hansika Motwani, Saranya Mohan, Pasupathy and MS Bhaskar in important roles. The film is directed by Jayam Raja and Vijay Anthony is scoring the music. It is produced by Aascar Films V Ravichandran.

"Nanban" Next Schedule Shooting in Kovai

Apart from Ooty, Shankar shot some important scenes of his forthcoming venture ‘Nanban’ in Coimbatore too. Here we have details about what happened on the sets of the Tamil remake of ‘Three Idiots’.  


In the textile city, the ‘mega director’ canned a wedding scene, in which heroine Ileana had to be kidnapped by two protagonists- Jiiva and Srikanth. Sathyaraj, who plays the leading lady’s father, was also present.  


The entire shooting spot was brought under a security blanket and everyone who went in was subjected to thorough scanner. “This is to prevent any possible leakage of scenes on the internet,” unit members say.  


With Vijay, who plays the role played by Aamir Khan, likely to join the unit in the last week of February, the cast and crew is back in Chennai after successfully completing the first schedule.

Velayudham Team is going to kick start with the next schedule in Pollachi

Ilayathalapathy Vijay who is busy with his promotion activities for his latest release Kaavalan is going to start his next schedule for his forthcoming film Velayudham.


Vijay known for interest in doing remakes is coming up with a script inspired by a Telugu film Azad, released in the year 2000. The film brings bubbly beauty Genelia and beautiful Hansika Motwani as the female leads opposite Vijay. Now the team is going to kick start with the next schedule in Pollachi.


Director Jayam Raja is planning big for the climax of Velayudham and it’s going to be outstanding. Aascar International of V. Ravichandran is producing the film. Music is by Vijay Anthony.

Shankar updates about Nanban

Director Shankar has penned in his blog that he has completed the first schedule of Nanban in Ooty and has thoroughly enjoyed working with the young team including the cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa, Jiiva and Srikanth.


Madhan Karky, who joined hands with Shankar in Endhiran, is in-charge of the lyrics for Nanban too. He is said to have penned a few songs and is polishing them further so as to make it as attractive as possible. Not to be left behind in the race to prove himself once again, music director Harris Jayaraj is ensuring that he is giving his best to make the songs chartbusters. It may be mentioned here that the musician has already recorded a song penned by Na Muthukumar.


Looks like this competition to excel is going to bring out one of the best movies in Tamil cinema

Surya out And Vijay in for Mani Ratnam's Next flick

Earlier we had told you about Surya and Vikram being considered for the next Mani Ratnam flick titled Ponniyin Selvanwhich is based on a Tamil historical novel by the same name. We know that Surya is busy with many other projects lately and the news that Mani had a preference for Vikram in the lead didn’t sit well with Surya as the hero was not interested for a secondary role in the movie.

Now we have come to know that Vijay and Vishal have been added to the cast along with Vikram. Surya as of now doesn’t seem to be a part of the picture as Vijay seems to be grabbing all the hotspots earlier reserved for Surya, earlier it was Nanban and now it’s the same case with Ponniyin Selvan.

There are talks that Sun Pictures will be putting in a staggering Rs.200 crores for this project and Ilayaraja is also being considered for the musical department. After director Shankar’s Nanban Surya is missing out on another prestigious offer alongside veteran director Mani Ratnam who is keen on fleshing out the characters of his new team that includesVijay,Vishal and Vikram.

Veteran filmmaker Mani Ratnam, sources say, has decided to cast Vijay, Vishal and Vikram in his next film. The director is getting the script ready for his next film and is penning it down with these three stars in mind.


Mani Ratnam is one of the few directors who cast multi-heroes in his films and tasted success in films like Agni Natchathiram, which had Karthik and Prabhu; Iruvar, which saw the coming together of two legends Mohanlal and Prakash Raj and Thalapathy which had two superstars Rajinikanth and Mammootty.


This time the ace director will be instrumental in bringing the three current biggies of Kollywood together – Vishal, Vikram and Vijay.

அதனால, அடுத்தடுத்து நான் போக வேண்டிய பாதையை 'காவலன்’ ரிலீஸ் தீர்மானிச்சு இருக்கு. இனி மேல்தான் மனம் திறந்து பேசப்போற உண்மையான சினிமா ரிலீஸ் ஆகப் போகுது!

காந்தி, எம்ஜிஆர், ஜெயலலிதா, விஜய்காந்த்.... அடுத்து நான்!

யார் பேச்சையும் கேட்டு உடனடியா எதிலும் இறங்க மாட்டேன். ஆனா, அரசியலில் இறங்குறதுக்கான அஸ்திவாரத்தைப் பலமாப் போட்டுக்கிட்டே வர்றேன்.

Vijay's Guest Role in ‘Sattappadi Kuttram’?

It’s an usual expectation that Vijay would make a special appearance when his father S A Chandrasekar directs a film. Now that the veteran filmmaker is busy with ‘Sattappadi Kuttram’, buzz is that the ‘Ilaya Thalapathi’ would play a guest role.

However, Chandrasekar evades a direct reply to this question. “I can’t say anything at this point of time. I can comment on this only after completing the movie,” says the director.

SAC, known for handling revolutionary themes, is remaking his yesteryear blockbuster ‘Sattam Oru Iruttarai’ as ‘Sattappadi Kuttram’. Sathyaraj, Seeman, Vikranth and Bhanu among others play lead roles.

“The film will come with a message to the society. Sathyaraj is giving his best while Seeman will be featured in the role of an advocate, who fights hard to ensure that wrongdoers get punishment as per law,” the director adds.

Vijay has made a comeback: Siddique

Riding high on the success of Kavalan, director Siddique is one happy man. Not only did the film, which is a remake of the Malayalam original Bodyguard, open fantastically to packed audiences, but is now also being made in Hindi with Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor.

Casting it right
One of the biggest strengths of the movie is obviously its lead cast — Vijay and Asin. "I had narrated the story of Bodyguard to Vijay three years ago, even before I had made the film in Malayalam with Dileep. He loved the script, but for some reason, the film didn't take off then. With Asin, again, I wanted to cast her in the Malayalam version, but that did not work and I signed on Nayantara. I think Asin and Vijay were a great combination in Pokkiri, and it was wonderful to see them coming together again," Siddique says.

A Stupendous Response
Siddique is obviously pleased with the response to Kavalan. "It has been stupendous," he gushes, "The film was entirely promoted on word of mouth publicity. There was not even a single ad or trailer before the film released. The story has spoken for itself and people who have seen both versions have told me that they liked Kavalan better. It is a very simple subject, but where it packs a punch is in the climax." But, the best praise of all, he maintains, came straight from the horse's mouth – Vijay's mother. "She thanked me profusely and said that she was very grateful that Vijay had done such a film." He adds, "I think the audiences in Tamil Nadu identify good cinema and that's one of the main reasons that the movie has done so well."

One story, many languages
After the shooting of Bodyguard in Hindi, Siddique reveals that he is planning to remake the film in Telugu as well. Making the same film in different languages can surely be a daunting task, but he takes it on as a challenge. "When you make a film in different industries, there will obviously be different budgets. So, every time the film is remade, there is a scope for betterment and needless to say, the opportunity to correct errors," he says. "Also, there is the creator's thrill," he adds shyly.

On Vijay
Actor Vijay and Siddique go a long way. Back in 2001, when the actor was going through a lean phase, it was Siddique's Friends that catapulted him back to fame. The same can be said now with Kavalan. Siddique explains, "Vijay's rough patch was not because of his lack of talent. I think in Kavalan, what worked was that the Vijay that people liked — with romance, humor and emotions — has made a comeback."

The actress flew down to Coimbatore from Hyderabad and is currently canning the wedding scenes in the film. Ileana is reprising Kareena Kapoor's role in the original.


Ending all speculations about the Tamil title of 3 Idiots, Gemini Film Circuit recently announced the Tamil title as Nanban. The Telugu title is 3 Rascals. The announcement also confirmed Vijay, Srikanth and Jiiva as the three leads in the movie.


Vijay will appear as the unorthodox genius Rancchod Das (played by Aamir Khan), while Jiiva and Srikanth will appear as the naïve Farhan Qureshi and Raju Rastogi (played by Madhavan and Sharman Joshi respectively). Sathyaraj appears as the insensitive professor Virus (played by Boman Irani).

Shankar’s ‘N’ Sentiment for the ‘N’th Time in Nanba’N’

Here is one of our observations about the title of “Nanban”. After “Moovar”, “3 Rascals” and in fact “3 Idiots”, the title of the ‘3 idiots’ remake has become “Nanban”. The official announcement came from the producers, director, actor and those concerned with the film.

This actually follows the “N” sentiment of Director Shankar which he uses for his latest film too. He has followed this for the nth time and will also likely do so in future. Except for Jeans, Boys and Sivaji, majority of his films have all been named in a manner that finishes with “N”.

Right from Gentleman to Kadhalan to Indian, Mudhalvan, Anniyan and Endhiran, Shankar has used titles which end with “N”. The coinciding factor is that all these movies have been big hits. Other did fall apart as average – Jeans and Sivaji, whereas Boys is the complete failure.

Following the lead character fiasco and Suriya’s polite refusal to star in the film for his “Nanban”, Vijay is decided back again as the hero with Ileana, Jiiva and Srikanth. Sex-crazy SJ Suryah plays a cameo or an important role in the film along with Anuya.

Sathyaraj plays the famous Cherian character as in “Five Point Someone” or as the father of “Ileana”. Sathyan will also be doing a pivotal role. Manoj Paramahamsa of Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaya fame is the cinematographer and Harris Jayaraj will take care of the music.

The film has already gone on floors with Jiiva, Srikanth, SJ Suryah, Sahtyaraj and Sathyan while Vijay will arrive to the shooting spot on the 25th of February, 2011. Well, this is more than a good news for Vijay fans who wanted him to act in the Tamil remake of “3 idiots” which is titled as “Nanban” or in a Shankar’s film.
