The grapevine is abuzz that Vinay Rai will play one of the three main characters in the Tamil remake of the Hindi blockbuster 3 Idiots. “It’s true that I was approached for Madhavan’s role,” reveals Vinay, “I saw the original in Hindi and loved every bit of the film. Moreover, I am a big fan of Shankar sir and working with him would be a dream come true for me. But when I analysed the role, I realised that it was not quite meaty. So, after couple of days, I got back to the production team and told them that I cannot take it up, ” clarifies Vinay. The actor is currently busy shooting for an untitled project opposite Sharmila Mandre, who is making her debut in Tamil with this film. “She is pretty and it’s great working with her. Madhesh is directing this commercial potboiler. It’s quite some time since I did a Tamil film and frankly speaking, I didn’t get many good scripts. This film has a lot of comedy and it was great fun working with seasoned comedians like Santhanam and Ganja Karuppu,” says Vinay, who is also busy with a Telugu project, Veela, opposite Nisha Aggarwal. “Nisha felt that I shared a great chemistry with Kajal in Modhi Vilayadu and that ’s the reason she would like to work with me. I am still teasing her saying that she should ask her entire family to act with me, ” he quips.

LATEST ON THE TAMIL 3 IDIOTS
Shankar has been in the news for his next movie which is a remake of the Hindi movie 3 Idiots. There has been lots of speculation about the cast and crew for quite sometime now. The current update is that Vijay, Jiiva and Illeana have been confirmed to act in the movie. Now it is being said that Shankar and the crew will set the ball rolling of 3 Idiots from December 5, 2010.
It is also being rumoured that the team is planning to can shots in Dehradun, where the original version was shot. So it seems that it is indeed a remake…quite literally!

SHANKAR’S 3 IDIOTS ON THE ROLL
Shankar’s first remake film 3 Idiots will start rolling from December 5th, 2010. The shooting of this film will begin in Delhi but the exact location is kept under wraps for now. Vijay and Jiiva have been confirmed for the two main roles in this remake.
So what about the third role? There was rumor that Srikanth is under consideration and this has now turned out to be true. Competing with Srikanth for the role is Vinay. It is said that either Srikanth or Vinay may be signed up for the third role.
KAVALAN LATEST UPDATE
Since this news came, all fans have started to throng their nearby audio shops inquiring about the exact release date. Vidya Sagar has composed the music and since being a love story, all songs are expected to be melodies and peppy numbers which would attract the youth.

Kavalan – Vijay’s Big International.Release!
‘Kavalan’, a much awaited film of the year is in its finishing stages. After his last few films which did not perform too well at the box office, Vijay’s 51st film is expected to be the next Big Blockbuster for the Ilaya Thalapathi. Amidst rumours and other controversies Tantra Films has purchased the worldwide rights of the film at a whopping price which has heightened the expectations further.
Tantra Films, the successful producers of ‘Chennai 600028’ and soon-to-be released ‘Pickles’, has been approached by numerous distributors and regular Tamil film buyers worldwide. Tantra Films has indicated its desire to create long term partnerships with International Indian distributors and buyers in the now booming Tamil FMS market.
A spokesperson from Tantra Films has asserted that Tantra Films believes that prominent distributors of the Indian Diaspora community worldwide will forge new partnerships and celebrate the success of ‘Kavalan’ together!
Slated to be released in December 2010, ‘Kavalan’ is anticipated to be the blockbuster of the year.
Ileana meets Shankar!
Shankar is all set to start his Raju Hirani's 3 Idiots remake in Tamil and Telugu.
The film has Vijay in Tamil and Mahesh Babu in Telugu doing Aamir Khan's role, while Ileana will be doing Kareena's role in both the versions.
The shoot of the bi-lingual will start in Chennai from December 6.
The trouble is Shankar is running around in circles looking for actors to play the other "two idiots". He has more or less firmed up on Jiiva, who will do the role done by Madhavan in the original.
Sathyaraj has been signed up to play the role done by Bomman Irani in the original.
For Sharman Joshy's character he first approached Siddharth, who refused to do it. The grapevine has it that Shankar and Siddharth are not best of friends after Boys fiasco.
The director later approached Arya, who excused himself saying he has no dates. Now the latest we hear is that Srikanth is the frontrunner as Shankar rejected Ganesh Venkatram and Nakul who were in the race.
Meanwhile last Tuesday, Ileana flew down to Chennai to meet up with Shankar. She is being paid Rs 1.50 Crore to do both the versions, by the producers Gemini Film Circuit. Shankar explained to her in detail her role and how crucial she is to the film.

Kavalan rights sold out for unexpected price!
Vijay's Kavalan distribution rights have been sold bot in the Indian and overseas markets. Earlier reports stated Tantra Films has acquired the overseas distribution rights of Kavalan. Vijay's Kavalan was expected to be bought for a lesser prices than usual due to the average performance of his previous films.
But, Tantra Films have bought the distribution rights for a higher price. Following the overseas market, the domestic rights were also sold at a higher price too. Speaking about the movie Vijay said “It will have action, romance and humour at right mix. I admire director Siddique, who has a firm grip on the story. It is not a raw action film as the title would suggest. Like my past movies, there would be romance in it. Asin has done her best. Vadivelu will bring the roof down with laughter”.
Kavalan hasn't fallen for any negative criticism until now. Asin - Vijay combo, Vijay – Siddique combo, Vadivelu and the awareness of Bodyguard's success in Malayalam are considered to be the positive points for Kavalan.We wishes Ilayathalapathy Vijay for the success of Kavalan.

Ilayathalapathy Vijay says that Kaavalan will steal your heart
With Kaavalan, Vijay is confident that he will once more be the numero uno as far as box office collections are concerned. Kaavalan is a movie which Vijay was supposed to do long time back, but he had to keep postponing it. But, thanks to director Siddique it has happened now. The movie has all the ingredients that are required for a family entertainer including an excellent screenplay, foot-tapping songs by Vidyasagar and amazing performances by Vijay and Asin that will steal your heart!
Kaavalan will re-create the comedy magic of Vijay and Vadivelu that we saw in Friends. The comedy will be a roller-coaster fun filled ride for the audience and will tickle their bones!
Produced by Ramesh Babu, the movie will be released by director Shakthi Chidambaram’s Cinema Paradise. The movie which was slated for a Deepavali release, will now hit the screens in December. The audio launch is scheduled for mid of November.

Sathyaraj confirms '3 Idiots' remake
Sathyaraj has confirmed that he would play the crucial professor role in the Tamil remake of '3 Idiots', which was beautifully enacted by Boman Irani in the Hindi original.
"Yes, I am thrilled about working with Shankar. Though I denied the villain role he offered me in Sivaji, he was great enough to approach me for this meaty role in the 3 Idiots remake," the veteran actor has said.
"Many say I am playing Ileana's father in the film," he said and added: "But they fail to understand the weightage of the role. After a long gap, I have got such a wonderful opportunity, thanks to Shankar."
On why he denied 'Sivaji' offer, Sathyaraj said, "I acted with Rajinikanth in Mr Bharath because I had equal footage. But the villain role in Sivajji did not have much scope for me. So I took a firm decision said no."
VIJAY’S UNUSUAL DONATION
Vijay has gifted 108 milking cows with calves to deserving people including farmers, widows and destitute women. The event took place in Udumalpet, where the actor distributed the cows, and said that it would be available for the beneficiaries right from Diwali. Each of the cow cost about 25,000 to 30,000 rupees and an entire team worked hard to procure these 108 cows.
At the function, Vijay was compared to the legendary King Raja Raja Cholan who was known for distributing cows to his subjects to ensure their welfare. Udumalpet Municipality Chairman said during this function that Vijay had done something that even politicians have not done.
The cow donation event was organized by Vijay Narpani Mandram with the help of Velayudham’s producer Aascar Ravichandran and Suresh.

Soon, filmstars will have their own T20 league
Salman Khan versus Surya, Nagarjuna against Sudeep… Not box office clashes, T20 cricket matches. Starting January 8, 2011, the stars will pull crowds to cricket grounds. And there sure will be bouncers, beamers (unintended ones for sure), half-volleys, wides, no-balls and sixers galore in the fully filmy version of Twenty20 cricket.
Actors from Bollywood, Tollywood (Telugu), Kollywood (Tamil) and Sandalwood (Kannada) have confirmed their participation in the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) through their respective film artistes’ associations. Sources said Salman Khan will lead the Bollywood team, while either Chiranjeevi or Nagarjuna will lead the Telugu all-stars. Vijay and Sudeep will lead the Tamil and Kannada outfits respectively. But the biggest crowd-puller of them will be Rajinikanth, whose latest Enthiran aka Robot has smashed all box office records. The Malayalam actors’ association is likely to take its decision within the next two days.
The idea of CCL cropped from the friendly matches Telugu filmstars play every year. Since 2009, the matches have turned out to be great crowd-pullers and money-spinners, with top stars like Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, Venkatesh and Nagarjuna leading the teams. Their TRP on live TV has almost rivalled that of the IPL.
It led to two Hyderabad-based companies, Rhythms and Sprint Telefilms, who have been organising cricket tournaments featuring Telugu actors since 2005, deciding to replicate the same on the T-20 format on a bigger scale.
Rhythms is owned by a close relative of a top Telugu actor, who himself is not involved in the money matters, sources said.
Initially, the tournament was designed for stars from the southern filmdoms. But a Mumbai-based production company showed interest and wanted to rope in Bollywood. A top star “who could not compete with a Shah Rukh Khan in the IPL arena” also showed interest, and a dialogue was initiated with the Hindi film artistes’ association. Sources said that the ratio of ownership between the three companies that came together to form the CCL Limited had been kept under wraps.
The two-week tournament will be spread over four cities — Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai. The bidding for franchises will start on November 10. Sources said that Tamil star Surya wants to own the Kollywood team even as his arch-rival Vijay will lead it.
City may host finalThe venues for the semi-finals and the January 23 final have not yet been decided. Bangalore has been confirmed to host two matches — one between Telugu and Kannada teams and the other between Bollywood and Sandalwood. Owing to its cosmopolitan nature, it is likely to get either of the matches between Hindi Vs Tamil and Telugu Vs Malayalam. Hyderabad, Chennai and Mumbai will host two league matches each.
Sources said that either Mumbai or Bangalore will host the semi-finals and the final. “Bangalore has a cosmopolitan nature and will draw crowds for stars of any language, while Mumbai has a huge crowd capacity. It will be one of these two cities,” a source said.
Money matters
The bidding for the title sponsorship is under way. Sources said major firms like Hindustan Unilever (HUL) and ITC are in contention. The CCL Limited will make an upfront payment to each of the participating artistes’ association.
On Monday evening, the Kannada Cine Artistes’ Association (KCAA) met and confirmed its participation. Association president Ambareesh told Bangalore Mirror, “A meeting was held with all the Kannada actors, and we have decided to participate. Sudeep will lead our team, and we are looking forward to play.”
The KCAA will get Rs 1 crore, of which Rs 65 lakh will be used for constructing the association building, and the remaining Rs 35 lakh to the actors playing for the team. Sudeep said, “We will soon decide on the team’s composition. We need to get ready for the game.”
While the Kannada and Malayalam associations will get Rs 1 crore each, the others will bag Rs 1.5 crore each. The difference is because matches involving the three other teams are expected to garner much higher revenues. “This issue has been clarified with the respective associations,” CCL sources said.
Brand ambassadorsEach side will name a 15-member squad. It is mandatory that five top actors will be there in the Playing XI. Each association will appoint two top actresses as brand ambassadors, who will have to be at the venue to watch their team play.
Rajinikanth will be the promoter of the Kollywood team. He will not play, but has confirmed to watch the matches in Bangalore and Mumbai to attract crowds.
The Tollywood team is likely to be led by Nagarjuna, who is a good cricketer. But with Chiranjeevi making a strong comeback into films, he too could be in the running. Top producers Allu Aravind, Dil Raju and KL Narayan are in the fray for owning the Telugu franchise. The successful bidder will own the team for 10 years, paying an incremental 10 per cent fee every year.

The KCAA will get Rs 1 crore, of which Rs 65 lakh will be used for constructing the association building, and the remaining Rs 35 lakh to the actors playing for the team. Sudeep said, “We will soon decide on the team’s composition. We need to get ready for the game.”
While the Kannada and Malayalam associations will get Rs 1 crore each, the others will bag Rs 1.5 crore each. The difference is because matches involving the three other teams are expected to garner much higher revenues. “This issue has been clarified with the respective associations,” CCL sources said.
Brand ambassadorsEach side will name a 15-member squad. It is mandatory that five top actors will be there in the Playing XI. Each association will appoint two top actresses as brand ambassadors, who will have to be at the venue to watch their team play.
Rajinikanth will be the promoter of the Kollywood team. He will not play, but has confirmed to watch the matches in Bangalore and Mumbai to attract crowds.

Ilayathalapathy has finished shooting for Kaavalan except for a song, which would be shot at exclusive abroad locales and the movie is all set to be released in the month of Decemeber. The audio of the movie would be released in a couple of days, this month and already Vijay had moved on with the Velayudham team to Pollachi where a song and some important scenes are being shot.
News is that, a small function would be held at Pollachi on thursday morning, where Vijay would be giving off 100 cows to poor and needy people at the place, which would benefit them and also their family.After the function, Vijay would be returning back to chennai on thursday and he would join the Kaavalan team for the final song shoot.

ஒரு முன்னணி ஹீரோ வாங்குகிற அளவுக்கு கை நிறைய வாங்குகிறார் ராஜ்கிரண். அதில் பைசா குறைந்தாலும் அவரது அடர்ந்த மீசைக்கு கீழே பதுங்கிக் கொள்கிறது புன்னகை. அப்படியிருந்தும் ராஜ்கிரண் கால்ஷீட்டுக்காக கால் கடுக்க நிற்கிறது கோடம்பாக்கம்.

அசின் பல பாலிவுட் ஹீரோக்களால் நிராகரிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறார். கடைசியாக காக்க காக்க ஹிந்தி ரீமேக்கில் ஜோதிகாவின் காதாபாத்திரத்தை நிரப்ப அசின் சரியாக இருப்பார் என்று தயாரிப்பாளர் ஒத்தைக் காலில் நிற்க, சூர்யா பாத்திரத்தை ஏற்ற ஜான் ஆப்ரஹாம் முதலில் அசினுக்கு எதிர்ப்புத் தெரிவிக்காமல், படம் பற்றிய அறிவிப்பு வெளியானதும் அசின் வேண்டாம் என்று தூக்கியடித்தார்.

தமிழ், தெலுங்கைத் தொடர்ந்து, பாடிகார்ட் படத்தை ஹிந்தியிலும் ரீமேக் செய்ய இருக்கிறாகள். ரீமேக் செய்பவர் சல்மான் கானின் சகோதரி அல்விரா. சல்மான் கான் இந்தப் படத்துக்கும் மூன்றாவது முறையாக அசினையே ஹீரோயினாகக் கேட்க, சல்மான் மீது கோபத்தில் இருக்கும் தமிழர்களைக் குஷிப்படுத்த இதுதான் சரியான தருணம் என்று எண்ணிய அசின், சல்மானுடன் இனி சேர்ந்து நடிக்கமாட்டேன் என்று அதிகாரபூர்வமாக மறுத்துவிட்டார். இதற்கு அவர் சொல்லியிருக்கும் காரணம் “மேலும் மேலும் ஒரே ஹீரோவுடன் நடிப்பதை நான் விரும்பவில்லை” என்று. இதனால் சல்மான் செம டென்ஷனாகியிருக்கிறாராம்.

“The name of the character Vijay plays in ‘Kavalan’ is Boominathan and everyone watching the film would love something about his role,” says sources close to ‘Kavalan’ unit.
“It can be said that Vijay’s character in the film, which is soft and lively, could remind the roles he played in ‘Kadhalukku Mariyadhai’, ‘Thullatha Manamum Thullum’ and ‘Friends’,” sources further say.
“At the same time, there will be enough scope for action,” they say and add: “Because, director Siddique has made little changes to the original story keeping in mind the action hero image of Vijay.”
A remake of Malayalam hit ‘Bodyguard’, the other two strengths of ‘Kavalan’ are Vadivelu and Asin. “Besides, Vidyasagar’s music is also going to be one of the highlights of the movie,” sources conclude.
ANUSHKA RETURNS WITH ILAYATHALAPATHY ONCE AGAIN:

Kaavalan Audio Songs Release Date Nov 14
Vijay’s ‘Kaavalan’ is finally completed and the post production works have started now. Although Vijay ’s previous films were average crossers in Tamil Nadu, this film has been sold out for a record-breaking price in overseas. Producer Sakthi Chidambaram, who acquired the rights of this film instantly wanted to release the film ’s music in Malaysia.
However, Vijay being a simple person insisted that the audio launch shall be done in Chennai itself just to avoid unwanted publicities for the film. It is reported that Vijay will honor music director Vidhyasagar as ‘Kaavalan’ is his 245th film. According to the sources, the film’s music is expected to be launched on November 14..
