Nanban nearing for completion

Shooting for Nanban is going on at breakneck pace at Sun Studios, Chennai. Currently Vijay and Srikanth's scenes are being filmed. Word is that Nanban will be wrapped up by August 5th and post-production will get underway. 


Shankar being quite the perfectionist is working very hard to ensure that there are no glitches. Insiders are claiming that the ensemble cast which Shankar and the producers took so much time to finalize have gelled perfectly and the results will be evident on the big screen. If all goes according to plan, Nanban will be a Diwali release.

CLASH BETWEEN VIJAY-AJITH

Tamil cinema is gearing up for a classic Vijay versus Ajith battle as their films, Velayudham and Mankatha respectively, are getting ready for an August release.

Velayudham director M Raja, has said in an interview that his film is slated for an August release. Mankatha producer Dhayanidhi Alagiri had recently, through a tweet, confirmed that his film would be released in August.

Dhananjayan of UTV and leading producer has tweeted-”They may release in the same month (August) but not same day.”

It looks like there will be a two weeks gap between both the films.

As per industry sources it has also created an unnecessary tug of war between the fans of Ajith and Vijay. Remember recently the stars themselves had met and buried the hatchet.

On the trade front also it has created tension, as both the films are looking for buyers. The trade is abuzz on how to accommodate the two biggies.

This will have a bearing on the price factor and MG (Minimum Guarantee) being offered by the exhibitors.  The buzz is that both the films are looking for a single party buyer to market the film
worldwide.

I was nervous to work with Vijay–says Ileana D'cruz

Ileana is gung ho about Nanban with Vijay, directed by Shankar. She bubbles over with enthusiasm while discussing the project. Apparently it is not a scene – by – scene lift from the original Three Idiots but a remake that takes into account Tamil sensibilities. Her character has also been tweaked a little and she credits Shankar for developing the character as well as her look in the film.

About working with Vijay she says she was a little nervous but everyone made her feel comfortable and helped her out with the language barrier. Vijay is a very composed person she says and is very friendly. He shares a great rapport with Jiiva, and Srikanth and the three enliven the sets considerably. “As for me, I am the fourth idiot on the set”, she adds with a laugh.

Velayudham is looking for a Distributor

Velayudham, Vijay's 52nd film directed by Jayam Raja has been produced by Aascar Ravichandran. It is a big -budget extravaganza which is close to  the finish line as only 15 days of shoot is pending. Word from insiders is that the film has overshot the budget in a big way. 


The producer has Leelai also ready for release, so he will not be able to pump in more money for Velayudham.


Consequently, the makers are looking for buyers. It is expected that some of the big production houses in the industry will be more than happy to snap it up.

Velayudham Villain Is Excited

He just needed a film to showcase his potentials and today, he becomes the most favorite character artiste in all regional movies. Abhimanyu Singh arrested our senses with his atrociously shaded character in Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Raktha Charithra’. One could feel the realistic flavor of a typical baddie exerted by his performance. Ans:Velayudham has shaped up well and is nearing completion.

Each song is sculpted for Vijay.

It is a highly expected album. Till now I have been listening to the tracks in a technical manner to fine tune the sounds. 

I will listen to it while driving (as a listener) when I complete it. I am glad about the way the project has shaped up and audio will be released soon.

NANBAN NOW ON CHENNAI

After shooting in Coimbatore, Ooty, Andaman and Amsterdam, the cast and crew of 'Nanban', led by 'captain of the ship' Shankar, are now camping in Chennai, picturising some important scenes.


"The shooting is taking place on East Coast Road, Hotel Le Royal Meridien, Perungudi, Guindy Kathipara and other places. 'Nanban' is taking shape at a fast pace, unlike other Shankar films," say sources..


Pointing out that the shoot of Shankar's previous venture 'Enthiran' hit the news columns for wrong reasons after traffic was disrupted on the Kathipara flyover, sources say the director is now very particular that no such thing should happen this time.


"Recently a car chase was canned on a couple of busy places in broad daylight. But no one knows about it since the clever filmmaker shot it on a candid camera setup to avoid troubles to the traffic," they add.

SHANTHANU-A BIG FAN OF ILAYATHALAPATHY VIJAY

Young star Shantanu, son of Bagyaraj, is a passionate fan of Vijay. He is such a fan of him that Shantanu has the Ilayathalapthy’s photo as the screensaver in his mobile phone. Further, he has set his ring tone to the Puli urumuthu song in Vettaikaran.

Sources close to Shantanu say that the actor will keep changing the ring tone quite often and it is usually Vijay’s numbers.

Shantanu’s last release was Kandein and he is currently busy playing the lead role in 2 Idiots.

Vijay's punch dialogue is Ajith's life

"The way Ajith leads his life is something excellent and interesting. He will not change his decision for whatever reason and this quality of him would remind me one of my favourite dialogues- Nan oru mudiveduthutta apram en pechai naney kekka matten", says Vijay.

No kiss for Vijay-Ileana in nanban climax

Shankar had earlier said that he would not changeNanban script to the large extent. He hinted that he would make minor modifications to suit the taste of the Tamil audience. The fans were eagerly waiting to know whether the director would shoot a lip-lock scene between the lead stars or not, as 3 Idiots had a kissing scene in the climax. Speculations are rife that he has decided not to have a kissing scene between Vijay and Ileana D'Cruz.

Grapevine has it that Vijay will not kiss Ileana inNanban. In 3 Idiots, Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor shared a passionate lip-lock. But the director will reportedly not shoot a smooching scene. It could pave the way for a controversy, as the Tamil audience are not used to such scenes. So, theEndhiran director has decided to do away with it, says a source. He might shoot a close-up shot, which would look like a lip-to-lip scene, concludes a source.

Meanwhile, Nanban unit is busy filming a song in Chennai. The makers are planning to wrap-up the movie by August. The movie, which also features Jeeva, Srikanth, Sathyaraj, Anuya, Lawrence Raghavendra, SJ Surya in the cast, is expected to hit the screens during Diwali.

Vetri Maran with Cloud Nine And Vijay?

After the tremendous success of Aadukalam at the National Awards, Vetri Maaran is the man of the hour. The announcement of his new project has been eagerly sought and he did not disappoint. NANBAN CONFIRMED FOR DIWALI RELEASE

It’s almost confirmed. And only an official announcement has to be made. That ‘Nanban’, the Vijay-Srikanth-Jeeva starrer directed by Shankar, will see the light of the day on the day of lights- Deepavali.


A Tamil remake of Hindi blockbuster ‘Three Idiots’, ‘Nanban’ is busy taking shape in Coimbatore, Ooty, Andaman and Amsterdam. “Most parts of the shoot are over and Shankar will commence post-production soon,” say sources.


It is to be noted here that Shankar would take enough time for post-production since the director would never be ready for any compromise on the end product. “Since this is his first remake, he is putting extra efforts.”


With Ileana playing the role played by Kareena Kapoor in the Hindi original, Sathyaraj is doing the character of a college principal, who is the heroine’s father. Anuya has an important role, that of Ileana’s elder sister.

No compromise for Vijay-Says Director Jayam Raja

“The story of ‘Velayudham’ demanded only an actor with a larger-than-life image, like Vijay. So we have not made any compromise in the script to satisfy Vijay fans as his character in the film will itself be a delight to them,” says ‘Jayam’ Raja, the director.


The filmmaker, who celebrated his birthday on the sets of ‘Velayudham’ on Tuesday, said, “However, Vijay has come out with some special styles and mannerisms which will be liked by one and all, especially women fans.”


On the film’s knot, Raja said, “It is a commonman’s war against loopholes in the system. How the hero achieves his mission in brainy and brawny ways is what ‘Velayudham’ is all about. The movie will be racy from scene one”


“This is the most expensive Vijay film ever,” the director informed and added: “So the Ilaya Thalapathi took extra efforts to ensure that all is well. Our thanks to the producer (Aascar V Ravichandran) for his tremendous support.”

'Nanban' Shooting In The Place Of ‘Endhiran’

It looks like director Shankar will complete ‘Nanban’ within short span of time, say before Jan-Feb 2012. The crew has already completed working on couple of schedules that was shot across Ooty, Dehradun and Andaman.

Before couple of days, the crew returned from Ooty after shooting few portions and are now back in Chennai. Shankar has planned a week schedule at the indoors of Studios. It was the same place where the huge sets were erected for ‘Enthiran’.

Soon after completing few portions in Chennai, Shankar is planning for some songs to be shot in Spain and other parts of the globe.

NANBAN-RELEASE DATE

It is known that this comedy entertainer is made with a whopping budget of Rs 60 crore. This is going to be a mega budget film in Kollywood, off course its director Shankar’s film. All most all his films are made with a whopping budget and the film too showcases the grandeur and elegance. 

Currently the film is shooting at Coimbatore and the lead casts Vijay, Jeeva, Ileana are taking part in this schedule. Nanban music carries a special song which includes the lyrics of 16 languages and director Shankar has shot this song in exotic places around the world.

Nanban is a laugh-riot and speaks about the most important aspect of human pursuits: self-actualization.

Nanban is produced by Raju Easwaran and T. Muthuraj under the banner of Gemini Film Circuit.

Nanban is tentatively slated for its release on 26 October 2011.

NANBAN TEAM IN COIMBATORE

Whatever director Shankar does creates a buzz all over the industry and among movie buffs. Of course, the director-cum-producer has directed around ten films so far in his eighteen years career as a director and each film from ‘Gentleman’ to ‘Enthiran’ has been a blockbuster breaking all records. 
 
His forthcoming venture ‘Nanban’ is the official remake of Bollywood blockbuster, ‘3 Idiots.’ But what not many know is that, ‘Nanban’ is the first remake directorial venture of the ace director, Shankar. 
 
The Kollywood grapevine is abuzz that the team flew down to Coimbatore yesterday where some of the key scenes in the film will be shot.

Soon after returning from Swiss, Jiiva flew down to Coimbatore to participate in the Nanban shooting. Director Shankar and team are stationed in Coimbatore where some very important scenes are being canned.
Jiiva, who was busy wrapping up Vandhan Vendran, has joined the Nanban unit and will complete his portions.

 
Whereas actress Ileana tweeted that she is back to work at the shooting sets of ‘Nanban’ in Coimbatore and its burning hot in there!

NANBAN CLIMAX???

One of the highpoints of '3 Idiots' is a romantic encounter between Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the climax, during which they would exchange a passionate kiss. Now that the film is being remade in Tamil, there is a question about retaining the scene.

"It is a long liplock scene which was well received by the audience. But it may not be retained in the Tamil version. Even if it is there, it would be shot in a way that you miss it if you blink," sources close to the unit say.

'3 Idiots' is being Tamilised by Shankar as 'Nanban', with Vijay, Srikanth and Jeeva playing the lead roles. Ileana is the heroine, while Sathyaraj plays her father. Music is scored by Harris Jayaraj.

"Nanban is getting shape fast. Shankar has made some slight changes to the script to make it appeal to the Tamil audience. There may even be a fight sequence to satisfy Vijay fans. But we are not sure about it," sources say further.

Maniratnam signs up Vijay for a commercial film

Ilayathalapathy Vijay is celebrating his 37th  birthday on 22nd June. He was planning to release his upcoming film ‘Velayudham’ to coincide with his birthday as it would be a ‘perfect’ way of celebration of his birthday by his fans. It now appears that his plan has run into some hiccups and ‘Velayudham’ might not be releasing on the D-Day.

Sources close to Vijay say that as he is simultaneously shooting for Shankar’s ‘Nanban’ too, Vijay’s call-sheet dates reportedly clashed and as a result, a song sequence and a major stunt sequence for ‘Velayudham’ remain to be canned. This and the post-production work as well as the audio launch might push the film to be released either by June-end or early July, it is learnt.

Vijay’s long-standing dream of working with directors like Shankar and Maniratnam is finally coming true. Though Vijay’s much-publicised project ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ with Maniratnam has been called off due to financial and other constraints, it now turns out that the ace director’s next film is most likely to feature Vijay in the lead role.

Mani is said to have sounded whether Vijay was willing to take on an ‘action role’ on the same call-sheet dates that he had given for ‘Ponniyin Selvan’. Vijay immediately nodded in agreement and the film has now been planned to be made with a budget of Rs.25 crores.

An official announcement in this regard might be made on the eve of his birthday next month, it is further reported. Stay tuned with us for further updates.

No Clashes Between Velayudham and Mankatha

While Vijay’s ‘Velayudham’ is reported of being scheduled for theatrical release on June 22 for the occasion of his birthday, it was a buzz on airs that Ajith Kumar’s ‘Mankatha’ will hit screens for the same Friday as producers were planning to get it released by third week of June. But now there is an official confirmation that the ‘Mankatha’ will hit screens only by second week of July.

The audio launch of both the films is also scheduled for release with a same interval of 1-2 weeks.

VELAYUDHAM FINAL SCHEDULE IN CHENNAI

Vijay’s Velayudham, the most awaited film of the year is going to complete the shoot by the end of May.

The latest update regarding Velayudham is that, the shooting had started in Chennai and this is the final schedule of the film. It is also known that the shooting would continue at Chennai locales for the next 20 days of time, later which the team will start the post production works of the film. Vijay is essaying the role of a milkman while Hansika and Genelia will star as his love interests in the film. There is going to be a lot of sister sentiment and Saranya Mohan who played Vijay’s sister in the film had greater scope for performance.

The audio is going to be out in stores on May 23, 2011. Though many confess that Velayudham is the remake of Telugu hit film Azad but director Jayam claims that it’s not a remake, but his own story.

MOST EXPECTED VIJAY-AMEER COMBO'S KANNABIRAN TO BEGIN SOON

Director Ameer is known for his mass movies. He had earlier done mass commercial entertainers with top heroes like Suriya, Karthi, and Jeeva and is currently working on ‘Aadhi Bhagavan’ with Jayam Ravi. We had earlier told you that Jayam Ravi is sporting a rough look in this movie, completely in contrast with his lover boy appearance in ‘Engeyum Kadhal.’


Now the buzz is that, the director has started working on his next project. This new project is tentatively titled ‘Kannabiran,’ with 'Ilayathalapathi' Vijay playing the protagonist. It is also said that this would be another mass entertainer of Ameer’s.

 Yes, in his forthcoming film Velayudham with director Jayam Raja, Vijay plays a milkman, à la Rajini’s character in his superhit Annamalai. But of course, the similarities start and end there. Sources close to the film’s unit say that Vijay plays a simple man who believes in the basic human virtues. How the situation forces him to take on the evils forms the rest of the story. 

    A source says, “Raja believes in shooting his films realistically. There is a marriage sequence in the film and to make things look real, he asked the art directors to decorate an entire village near Pollachi by erecting pandals and shamiyanas. The effort cost him around one crore rupees. He even built a well in the village for one of the scenes and gifted it to the villagers.” 

    Narrating another interesting incident that occurred while filming, the source adds, “For a scene, Vijay and Saranya Mohan, who plays his sister in the film, had to see Paasa Malar in the local theatre. Even Raja was so engrossed in the film that he forgot to say ‘cut’ after the scene.”

Velayudham audio sets a new record

Velayutham’s audio has been sold for an astounding sum to Sony Music. 

The music house major is known for lapping up the audio rights of several big banner films and Velayutham has just joined this long list. Produced by Aascar Ravichandran, Velayutham stars Vijay in the lead.


The music scored by Vijay Anthony seems to have impressed Sony Music officials so much so that they decided to pay a record price for its audio rights. 


Velayutham is directed by Jayam Raja and has Genelia and Hansika Motwani playing the female leads. 


This film is a remake of the Telugu film Azad which had Nagarjuna playing the lead.

'Nanban' Team to Fly Abroad(Andaman and Spain)

Unlike his previous films, director Shankar is quite faster with his upcoming film ‘Nanban’. Although the film is a remake, Shankar has completely changed the script and is adding more grandiloquence. The first schedule was completed in Ooty followed by major portions shot in Dehradun.

The closer sources have revealed that the entire crew will be flying down to Andaman. Soon after this schedule, Shankar has planned of shooting some songs in the exotic locales of Spain that will have Vijay and Ileana.

The production unit has made it clear that the film will be produced at a whooping amount. 

VIJAY IS MY DREAM HERO-JAYAM RAJA

“I always wanted to do a film with Vijay. My longtime wish has come true with ‘Velayudham’, which is about a commonman’s vision to set thing rights in the society,” says ‘Jayam’ Raja.


The director, who is known for delivering hits non-stop, is excited and thrilled about working with the Ilaya Thalapathi. “Only Vijay could do justice for the role he is playing in Velayudham,” he says.


“The challenge in front of me is to justify the mass image of Vijay, without any compromise in the logic. I am sure that ‘Velayudham’ will be a real treat to his fans,” Raja says with all hope.

Nanban 3rd schedule from today

A day ago we have got the first look glance of Shankar’s Nanban and now it is known that the 3 schedule is going to star from today. The first look impressed all the fans and also received great response all over web.

Director Shankar has already wrapped up 2 schedules until now. The first schedule took place in Ooty and while the second schedule was wrapped at Dehradun. Vijay, Jeeva and Srikanth are taking part in the 3rd schedule and mostly Shankar will be filming few important scenes and two songs in London and Buckingham. Generally, Shankar takes a long time to finish a project but coming to Nanban he is completing it so fastly and this seems like he might give the film to audience most likely by Diwali.

Harris Jayraj is working round the clock for the music and he has already given 3 songs to Shankar and Vijay Prakash has rendered his voice for one song. In all probabilities the music will hit stores by September claim the K-Town buffs.

Tom Delmar all praises for Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay

Tom Delmar of ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Braveheart’ fame shares with IndiaGlitz insights about his experience working with Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay, on Vijay’s upcoming flick ‘Velayudham’.


“I was given a call by Ram and Oscar films, asking whether I can work with Vijay for a very complex piece of action in this film. It’s a scene on a moving train with highly dangerous acts. Vijay was fantastic and he’s a great star who is very active, physically. I demanded a great deal of him on that train and he delivered 100%. The audience can definitely look forward to seeing the film,” says an excited Tom.


He also adds that the team trained Vijay to do the most dynamic physical action on top of the train. “I’ve got to complement him again and again for he was absolutely wonderful to work with. He never complained, working under the blazing sun all day long and he just delivered, and delivered,” he adds.


A source close to the ‘Velayudham’ teams says that there are helicopter thrashes, train explosions and a lot more action-packed stunts in the movie. Looks like there’s definitely a treat for Ilaya Thalapathi’s fans on his birthday, for that’s when this movie is scheduled for release. Santhanam continues his steal on velayudham too

Only recently he played a thief called Kaatupoochi in ‘Siruthai’, in the company of Karthi Sivakumar.

Now Santhanam is playing a similar role in ‘Velayudham’, which has Vijay as protagonist.

“But this one is totally different to the one I did in Siruthai. Because I want to provide variety entertainment to the audience and carefully avoid doing same kind of characters,” the comedian says.

Ilayathapathy Vijay is known to be a calm composed person. His on screen persona may be beaming high in spirits with a lot of witty remarks and enjoyable talking, but personally he is sober.

Many people from the industry who have seen him work and who has worked closely with the actor has always mentioned how quite he is on the sets while shooting and changes only in front of the camera as he is supposed to speak on mentioning 'action'. Many of his female co stars has also remarked the fact that he is a very quite person.

But to every one's surprise Vijay is quite the opposite on the sets of Nanban says sources. The unit members of the film were quite surprised and even shocked to see Vijay making merry!

The perky attitude of Vijay has come as a surprise as he is enjoying his shooting and is seen having a gala time with his co stars Jeeva and Srikanth under the director of Shankar.

Is this Shankar's magic or the spirit of Vijay is actually coming to full on action wonders the Nanban team!
