Sun Pictures to acquire ‘Kaavalan’ against Vijay’s wish?

It was reported in some sections of the press some weeks ago that producer-director Shakti Chidambaram had acquired the distribution and release rights of the Vijay-Asin starrer ‘Kaavalan’ at a whopping Rs.40 crores.  Not many were aware that Shakti had done so and the news, which appeared in a leading daily, has now stirred a Pandora’s Box!

Shakti had earlier taken a loan of Rs.50 lakhs from a nationalized bank to make his ‘Guru Sishyan’.  When the Bank came across the news item, they called Shakti over and gave him a verbal ‘dressing down’ as to why wasn’t he repaying the loan when he could acquire a film’s rights at an amount which is more than thirty times the loan amount.

In order to avoid the consistent pressured being applied on him by the Bank to repay the loan he had taken in making ‘Guru Sishyan’.  Making full use of his plight, Sun Pictureshas moved in for the kill and is said to be demanding Shakti that he sell off the distribution and release rights of ‘Kaavalan’ to them.

Still to forget the ‘bitter’ experience when Sun Pictures released his ‘Vettaikaran’, Vijay is reportedly against selling the rights to Sun Pictures.  It is, however, believed that SunPictures might have the final laugh in the matter!
